My TD5 Disco has a squeak when it starts and stops, only just started.
I've taken the belt off and the tensioner seems slightly worn although not too bad.
Am I thinking the worst that it's the crank pulley ? If so what are the options apart from parting with £ 300 or so ?
Also am I being a bit tight by looking for a second hand one?
Any help will be gratefully digested.

i fitted a second hand crank pulley cost £45 from ebay and solved the chirping noise, the crank pulley bolt is well tight and can be a nightmare

Thanks Johnlad, I've seen a few on ebay for about £80, but for that much I think I would go all the way and pay the full price, you had a bargain at £45 and not too much to lose if it don't last long. Did you change the crank seal when you where down there?
Nice carp by the way !!!!!!

As tottot says start it without belt on see if the noise is still present, when mine gave up the ghost it made a loud chattering noise,I fitted a second hand one which I purchased off the old eBay paid £100 for it never had any probs with it...oh and that's a barbel cheif not a carp

well i know mine is the same and need changing keep looking on ebay for a good used one but am so tempted to have a solid one made i know what the idea of them is but are they really necessary
