What have I done?
Big puddle under the Disco this evening.
Engine block wet, front nearside of engine.
The steering rod is still wet so its def been leaking today / still is.
None of the hoses feel wet underneath.

I'm 99.9% sure it is coolant, colour looks right. level looks a little down in header tank.

Build up to today:

5 week ago I fitted an EGR blanking kit.
Noticed the intercooler was caked in deposits.
Removed top radiator hose to get the intercooler out (some coolant loss).
Re-fitted and topped up with water (via the header tank).
Noticed temp gauge was very slightly higher than normal and researched air in the system.

Last weekend removed top plastic bung and started to fill with water, seemed to be taking a lot (circa 300ml).
Checked header tank and all i was doing was filling that up (had removed header tank cap:doh:). Drained out some of the coolant (using plastic pipe) as to avoid mixing more water with the coolant and then replaced the plastic bungs with radiator drain valves.
Undone fixings for header tank and raised above thermostat.
Filled via header tank until coolant coming out of radiator bleed valves.
Refitted and got up to temp and ran for an hour - regularly checking for air in the bleed valves.
10 mile road trip, temp stayed consistant.
Monday picked up kids from school (3 mile round trip) and it hasn't moved since.

Antifreeze tested tested by 4x4 specialist garage in Dec and they added a little.

Truck:
98 Disco, 300 TDI auto.

My fear, I've diluted the coolant the past two mornings have seen frost on the windscreen.

It could be the P gasket (between the coolant pump housing and the engine block) or the coolant pump gasket leaking

Thanks, just done a quick search for the P gasket and found this:

Looks interesting. The block is wet int he right place for for this.

also check top rad hose to stat housing mine was leaking from there loose clip

I've couldn't feel any leaks under the hoses, but light was starting to fade. I should be home in good time tomorrow and I'll take a better look then.

Thanks for the advise, I'll let you know how i get on.
Cheers
Nick.
