Bad whining

I've got a 200tdi disco, which has just had a reconditioned box and transfer box. It was making this horrible whining before i took the box out, but has somehow got worse with the new gear/transfer box.
Am thinking it could be the front diff, but the noise decreases a bit with depressing the clutch. Any help would be great

haha no the girlfriend is bad enough though

A mate had similer turned out to be something to do with thrust bearing and the fork Y shaped bit that pushes back and forth in the box had worn and the y piece was lose or worn (not up on g/boxes & T/boxes) but just remembering what he said you've probly already checked but you never know
