It's my turn to ask a question:) .... enlight me pls in the next dilema: i want to improve a bit my disco's mud terrain capabilities, for that i've decided to use a detroit automatic diff locker. I can afford just one for the moment so my question is: what should i do?
1. put a detroit truetrac on the front
2. put a detroit truetrac on the rear
3. put a detroit locker on the front
4. put a detroit locker on the rear

a very good combination, tested by a m8... (and i can say the disco was unbeatable in deep mud) is truetrac-front and locker-rear but i can't afford that now...my first option would be the locker on the rear untill i'll get a truetrac for the front but i want to hear some oppinions cos the fact is that his is D1 and mine is D2 and the traction controll could make a difference

thanks in advance

Thanks so far.....truetrac in the rear is the best offer untill now:)..... as far as a know ARB need some wiring, relay and compressor to work and i dont wanna do that....or do they have automatic stuff too?

i have an arb front and rear on my bobtail and yes you need a compressor and wiring ..compressor is about £150 and each arb will be around £650 each and you will need your old diff housing

That's why my option was automatic locker ....it's about £400 and just a bolt in job....i just wanna "pump up" a bit the disco not to make it an "off-road demon".....from my experience CDL +TC is good but not good enough in deep and clammy mud.....i want to put to rest my tirfor winch for a while:)

doesnt your traction control work efficently because in theory it should be better as it acts like fiddle brakes but auto ,i only ask as ive tried alot of things off road and sold a few detroits to disco 2 owners but never tried disco2 off road myself

That TC is a very nice enhancement in theory but when u're in deep and clammy mud i think it's not enough. I think the inventors of it didnt think to the fact that when something wet, cloggy, viscous, whatever, floods over the axles, the brakes, the abs sensors, whe can say the whole brake system aswell will not work like in optimal conditions. I observed that TC is marvelous when the mud/water/snow is not deep enough to reach the brake pads/abs sensors but between the rice paddies where i frequently drive and the car sinks in mud untill the bumper it seems not efficient enough. I swallowed my shame at times when a neighbour with an old Patrol with the axles manually locked dragged me out or others with landcruisers smiled seeing me handling the tirfor.....i love my landy to much to let it be humiliated by japanese cars:mad: ............. or i'm a too stupid driver....the joy of detroit diff. and tirfor dealers:D

I've got an M reg Landrover 90.And in need of rear break discks.I was told there is two sizes. Can you tell me the right seize i need.Or you may tell me to take the wheel off and measure it!!!!

ive a detroit locker in the rear of my td5 110, with standard 24 spline in the front, it goes everywhere my mates 90 goes with arbs back and front, neither of us has TC though

Will a 300tdi Discovery gearbox fit a landrover 90 300tdi

Why not start your own thread on that topic???

Locker in the back and if you can afford it at a later date stick the TT in the front, I know the dilemma with the air locking diffs costing more to fit in the short term needing compressors relays and wiring, but my other concerns are based around the safety of the pipes in some off road situations and you have nothing external with automatic lockers so they are a fit and forget solution IMHO.

I liked my Detroit autolocker but they are far from fit and forget, if you have grippy tyres and dont change the oil often enough, they really like clean ep90, then this can happen My locker after 2 years of abuse

but at the price and the ease of use well they cant really be questioned too much but be aware on a disco they do have some influence on everyday road driving, now i have a standard open diff back in mine i have to say its got very good road manners again.
