As some of you know my autobox has has a one way clutch failed and I'm now looking at the bill of 940+vat for a new auto box and tc and 245+vat for fitting.

Is it possible and if so how hard is it to convert auto to a manual? Obviously I'll have to order a new manual box, clutch, clutch pedal, reservoir and maybe a new centre console?

Just thinking through what you will need:

1. Dual Mass flywheel £250;
2. Clutch kit £120;
3. 2nd hand gearbox including the clutch fork/release bearing etc £350;
4. Slave cylinder £35;
5. Master cylinder £80 and piping £??;
6. Pedal box or just clutch pedal if available separately plus a manual box brake pedal £??;
7. Clutch switch £??;
8. Some time with a diagnostic to tell the cars systems that it is now a manual.

Changing to manual gearbox will not save you money - the change to manual in parts alone will be perhaps £1000.

Incidently, Ashroft Transmissions on their site say a refurbished auto box inc TC is £725+vat and a fitted price of £1260 all-inclusive.
