Trying to remove my split oil cooler this morning and it seems the unions are jammed solid, so best option is to replace the cooler and metal pipe in and out pipes for new.

Question is i can see the flexi pipe goes into the metal pipe which feeds up in to the cooler. Question is how is best to seperate the flexi pipe from the metal ones as they seem to be a push fit of some sort?

Don't know whether this will answer your question but check out www.discovery2.co.uk
Got a section on replacing these pipes.

Hope it helps.

cheers

Rob

Thanks Rob seems mine is a different design of cooler and pipe fixings to this (1996 300TDI)

Just to clarify its the pipes from the cooler to the flexipipe which needs replacing.

Greg,
I think you'll find that the pipes come as complete units from the autobox to the cooler, you can't separate the flexi bit and the metal bit

From further research you seem to be right they come in complete units

For anyone that's interested the part numbers are Esr3239 and esr3240
