arb kit

Hi Guys I wish to add a set of arbs to my early disco 1. Its a 92 and I think its the last year that did not come as standard with arbs. Has anyone done this modification, or heard of anyone doing thsi modification. I have seen you can by kits from britpart, but I presume I still need to get hold of the actually chasis and axle mounts. Does nayone no of anywhere that sells these (I'm aware these would need to be welded on). Thanks for the tips Jim

Can anyone shed anymore light on this as it's something I'm interested in doing. Are the gaines really worth the cost an effort?

cars with sway bars do handle a LOT more sure footedly on the road. mine is like a boat compared to a 300tdi, BUT BUT BUT once you get used to a 200 it actually makes no real world difference IMO

Some kits don't need to be welded on. I've just taken off a front and rear ARB from my scrapper disco and the axle mounts were bolted on using the radius arm bolts and the chassis mounts were bolted too, not sure how though (riv-nuts perhaps?) as I undid the chassis mount bolts with a gas axe.
They need new bushes and ball joints but if anyones near enough to pick them up and offer a few beer tokens for them then PM me.

Depends, but no IMO.

ARB will restrict body roll, to an extent. But they aren't hugely bad stock IMO, not if you want to drive a 4x4.

They will reduce off road flex though.

i reckon if you drove a disco with arb and one without you would be hard pushed to notice the difference

Slightly mixed views but the majority against I would say! I'm not a hardcore off roader, I just do a bit of green laning and some driving over farm land so I don't think it would restrict me too much. I'm just trying to get it to a state where I could drive it a decent distance and be semi comfortable doing it!

I've recently changed the track and drag link bars to HD ones as the track bar was bent and also put a pro comp damper on which has helped lots.

they do make a difference and i allways fit them to any truck thats mostly on road as for most offroading the extra articultion doesnt warrant any loss in cornering

they certainly are better on road with sway bars, i bet you would notice it, especially if it is something that concerns you.

what loss of cornering do you get when offroading?

That's it guys, you have me sold! I'm guessing the kit paddocks do includes everything I need as I don't have the brackets on my chassis or axle?

if you still want offroad articulation and anti roll on the road the how about unlockable ones? more expencive but the best of both worlds

the X-eng sway bars are a nice idea but unrealistically expensive.

if you dont spend that much time off road, fit sway bars.

if you dont spend that much time on road, remove sway bars.

if youre not arsed, leave it as it is.

Forgot I posted this one some well valued opinions here, thanks. I am keen to fit arbs for sure as I use the vehicle for overlanding and carry weight on the roof. Last winter I roled it, and I am a confident driver.....perhaps too confident in that particuler incedent. I love the idea of the lockable/unlockable bar but it is expensive. Let us know duker how the paddocks kit turns out, as it is a good option for sure, thanks Jim

Hi Duker just had a look on paddocks and couldnt see the kit any more? I know mm4x4 also do a kit, will you put both front and back arbs on?

As you can see in the third and fourth pics the chassis mounts for the rear will need fabricating like the front ones are.

I am keen to buy those arbs/or just the chassis mounts/axle brackets whatever is easiest. Its easy to get hold of arbs but the mounts are rare, and I need some!
