well after many days away got my disco back from team valley land rovers
STILL Not fixed the guy down there said every thing checked out ok and they don't know whats wrong with it
They suggested it may be an ecu fault but not sure ,so now I need to get hold of an engine ecu for a 1996 300tdi auto import at a reasonable price ,can any one help ?
My thoughts now may be the same as I used a start & charge battery charger to start it a couple of times and maybe I spiked the ecu.
If all the inputs into the ecu are ok but the information coming out to the injection pump are not correct this may be it ,it starts fine now but has no power on the road so I need an ecu to try this thought
Even though they didn't fix it Team valley lr where very good as they did not charge me even for the diagnostics which should have been £80

So they fixed the start problem? What was that?It sounds like it is in limp home mode now...this is the EDC we are talking about, right? I got one by approaching people on e bay who were listing parts of the relevant vehicle and asking them if they had one....many didnt even know there WAS an EDC ecu tucked in there !

As far as Im aware, the import (jap spec?) is the same as the UK,but someone like james m or 8V will know..........

Hi shocker
I fixed the cold start problem then somehow introduced the running (crawling problem ) so after trying many other things I gave it to them to get a diagnostic check done then left it with them when they said about injection and lift sensor fault and was prepaired to pay them £300 to fix it ,but when I called in they said they couldn't and every thing checked out ok
so now I can only try an ecu nohing else left
managed to source one from ebay so should have it to try tomorrow
If this dosn't sort the problem its going to get a manual pump conversion
You're right about lots of people not even knowing the edc pump has an ecu

Its done with Testbook, and I dont think that any other systems besides Autologic or Rovacon can do it.Takes a couple of minutes to do.
A while back a customer in rural France sent me their engine ecu, alarm ecu and fobs - I coded it all up on my car and sent them back,it was cheaper than the flights.
