Any Ideas

Hi, i have had a serpentine belt shred on my 96 300tdi disco. ok so i fitted a new one only to find a day later that the new one has also started to shred on the inner edge. On close inspection the power steering pulley has moved out of line with the other pulleys around 5 to 10mm towards the rad. ALL the bolts holding unit in place are tight as are the 3 pulley bolts. After removing belt the pulley turns with no indication of bearing wear. So does this mean that that somehow the spindle going into the pump has moved and if this is the case can i just hit it back in or is it a case of a new unit? At the moment i have cut the belt down by a groove and moved it across by one on all grooved pulleys giving me the clearance needed to stop it shredding. Any advice welcome. Thanks for reading.

biggest bit of advice...dont go cutting belts to fit its now a lot weaker and will prob break sooner

It was a tempory fix to get me home if i had left it, it would have shredded into bits and i would have had no belt the best of two evils. would you have any idea on the power steering pump?
