Alarm query

Happy New Year everyone,
just a quick one, when locking my 300 tdi with the key(no remote fob 1995 model) the indicators no longer flash to indicate the alarm has set, although the led under the stereo does flash. When i bought the car i noticed if i unlocked the passenger door & entered the car this would set the alarm off(the other doors did not unlock either) Does anyone have any ideas

That would be a single button fob, if u had one that is I believe that the alarm ecu can be corrupt and simply disconnecting and reconnecting the battery will reset the system, some say that the ignition should be also switched on.

Other than that we have a problem.
