OK so im a bit board and i am trying to figure out if i can replace the missing key fobs i dont have any fob just the key i can unlock the door with the key and lock with the sill button it locks all the doors when i do this at the drivers and again unlocks all with the key in the drivers door so the central locking works if i hold the key in the unlock position the alarm will sound and hazards flash but i cant lock the door with the key ?? the door spring could be worn this might solve that one but when i try to do the built in test i get nothing or if i try the sequence for adding a fob i get nothing the led in the dash does nothing i have never seen it on ?? any ideas is it possible someone have tampered with the ecu because they had lost the fobs ?any help would be good as i wouldnt mind having remote locking back
cheers

ok wee update managed to lock doors with spare key untill something in the lock went ping it still opens with the key but more to the point when locked with the key the alarm activated and the led flashed fast for 5 seconds then flashed slow i believe this is normal so the alarm does work but still no test mode i disconnected the bonnet switch and shorted the connection and tried the sequence just removing the short as opposed to releasing the catch nothing any ideas

If you can now set the alarm, sit inside set the alarm which should also lock the doors, when the led settles to the slow flash shake you keys at the ultrasonic movement detector and the alarm should activate and sound & flash indicators or just open a door from inside and the alarm should activate and sound & flash indicators you have now done a function test.
Do the same also with the bonnet release, sit inside etc etc etc and etc..

If no sound then could be a faulty output from the ecu or connection to the horn. Same with the indicators.

dude how can i set the alarm from inside the car i have no fob the alarm is working but it will not go in to test or sync mode i dont want to shell out for a fob if its not going to work anyone had bother getting in to test or sync mode before ?

Ooops so u don't, :) put your arm out the window maybe or get a some assistance.
If it's the test mode as detailed in Rave not working then you may have a problem with the small switch at the rear of the lock that the 200s have I believe, the plastic cam breaks.
http://www.landy.pl/LandRoverDiscoveryWorkshop1995-1996.pdf .... Look at Page 805 if you don't have Rave already.

ok ok i have figured it out for anyone who gives a hoot
the bonnet switch is gubbed but being a land rover shorting the wires on the switch mimics releasing and not depressing so i have ordered a set of fobs will update if it works
