If it is an automatic with EDC it is at the very back of the engine an inch or so from the top just in front of the bulkhead . Very difficult to see but you can feel the wire leading to it . Regards Jonathan

Hi there,
I to have a 1997 300Tdi Auto with EDC. Why do you want to know where the Air Temperature sensor is? Do you have a fault? I always thought it was part of the MAF sensor located just after the air filter housing - the haynes manual wiring diagram seems to indicate that the intake air temperature sensor and air flow potentiometer are both part of the MAF -but i'm no expert. section 13 page 40 of the haynes manual for reference item 109.
I don't know why it would be round the back of the block but there again it is a land rover!
Cheers Andy

The air temp sensor is definitely located at the back of the intake manifold, just changed mine.
Mine was stuck at a reading of -4 degrees.
As previously explained, remove the engine noise cover and reach as far back as you can on the right of the engine (as you look from the front).
It's bolted into the back of the inlet manifold.
Part number is ERR2082G
