My 2003 facelift disco has got one power socket in the rear loadspace, has anyone wired an additional one in anywhere? I have tried using a multi addaptor plugged in to power i-pod etc but they have not been too robust!

I have wired one into the rear of the Centre console for rear seat passengars - Direct feed from battery via a 10A fuse - done delibartley as mainly used for portable DVD player which becomes a pain if you loose power half way throgh a movie when refuelling etc.

I take it you ran a wire with an inline fuze directly from the battery, through the dash somewhere and then under the carpet under the seat and up the back of the console? Did you put an earth on to the power socket? I am a bit of a technical numpty as you may have guessed

On the Drivers side there is a gromet in the engine compartment which comes through by the In Car Fuse Box (Under the dash). then run round under the dash and into the centre console along the underside of the console to a socket.

Did you put an earth on to the power socket? - Ran the earth at the same time to a earth point next to the under engine fuse board a lot easier then messing around for a earth in the dash.

Have a look this - "Replacing Rear Ashtray" (with a 4-Socket Outlet) -

Or, you could install one with the Flip-Cover that's the same as the Factory-Fitted one (same as Freelander 1 and Rover 75/MG ZT)

There's some Black Rover 75 ones on eBay for £7.50
