accelerator cable

Hi All.
95 300 tdi disco, The travel on my go pedal seems to long, All im able to go off is my last disco which was fly by wire and travel lenth seemed normal, But in this disco i seem to have to push it quite a long way to obtaine full revs, Cant adjust it any further as it increases tickover, The only thing i can see is the cable looks about a foot longer than it needs to be, In fact i think it would reach even if it was left hand drive,
Any ideas chaps.

shouldn't matter how long cable is if no play at either end it should respond just the same as a short one.
i did a service on a 300 a couple of weeks back and the adjuster was screwed right in and would only give 1/2 throttle screwed adjustment out and fitted a spring clip and all was good
