400+ vat for a new alternator?

Rang local dealer today to get a price for a new alternator and there £400+vat and rimmer bros want the same!!!

I was exspecting 200+vat but **** me!

I Beleive there made by denso? Am I right?

Because I Beleive I found a o.e.m denso one brand new for 200 and something of of frogs island I think?

Are u sure u cant fix it with this? DISCOVERY SERIES 2 TD5 ALTERNATOR REGULATOR & BRUSHBOX | eBay UK ... usually that's the problem, anyway u can buy good second hand units e.g. discovery 2 td5 alternator | eBay UK+

you can get or at least i can get err6999 minus pump for £125+vat or denso with pump £225+vat if it helps

I think I see that on landroverpartsshop.com is that a genuine part and is that a good price?

Might give that a try actually as it's only 3months old. It just got a bit wet! Thanks

just realise that is for a denso unit. i brought mine off ebay and i dont think it was a denso unit. is it likely to fit or not do you reckon?

This is what Paddocks do. One is with, the other is without the vacuum pump.

just go the alternator off and stripped it down and its full of **** so just ordered that repair kit and hopefully be on my way again when it arrives!

tbh mate i often have mud problems with my alternator. if it stops working i douse it with water and it pops back into life.

ok mine is pure old skool technology, but maybe a strip and clean would save yours every time?

might be worth carrying a spare alternator and a repair kit in the car also???
