i am about to change the headlight bulbs for new ones.
can anyone recommend a brighter bulb?.
do the blue ones live up to the claims made by the manufacturers?.
cheers den

Only legal if you have self-levelling headlights (on a TDi - I don't think so!!) and headlamp washers.

It's bending law sure however -

How many chav cars do you see with blue LEDs?
How many cars do you see with front fogs on in clear visibility?
How many cars do you see with only partially de-frosted windscreens?

I got stopped on Saturday on the way to work at 05:00 for a breath test, copper said nowt about the HIDs, he was oncoming and turned around after me.

No-one has flashed me to indicate they are badly aligned so I'll reap the benefits and takes me chances:D

Happy Christmas all

Any blue light on a vehicle that is not used by the emergency services is illegal.

Also if you had been "flashed" what would have done about it... remove the bulbs? No.
What happens if you flash these idiots that dazzel they flick to high beam, so what's the point.
If you believe that just because you don't get flashed your lights are correctly aligned and don't dazzel then your misinformed, it's a well known fact that D1 and 2s headlamps are not designed for HID.

Aftermarket HID (Xenon) headlamps

Just got off the phone to a plod pal of mine and granted, he's not in the Traffic Division but he reckons I'd get a 'Rectification notice', in other words, 7 days to change them back to the manufactures standard fitment.

I'll take me chances.
