300tdi steering wheel

Hi All. I`ve given up on trying to get a replacement steering wheel for my `98 300tdi Disco. Thinking on just covering it with one of those lace up leather covers. Anyone recommend one? Found one on fleabay but it`s marked as for the 200tdi, and I don`t know If the rim on the 200 is the same as the the 300. Anyone with a tape measure and a spare minute, going out to measure their wheel for me please?? Ta, if you can.

The 200 has a differant wheel.

Whats wrong with yours.
Usually loads on ebay breaking shouldnt be that hard to get one.

My wheel is worn on the grip. Given their age so are most/all wheels from breakers.
I`ve tried getting a boss to fit an aftermarket wheel but no luck, so a lace-up leather glove it`s gotta be.
I don`t want to fit a 200 wheel, but have found a glove to fit one so I want to check that the grip size is the same.
Can I persuade anyone with a 200 a tape an a coupla minutes spare to go measure for me please. ??

The 200 wheel is bigger.

Is yours with or withouy Airbag.

Thanks for the answer, even if it`s not what I was hoping for. Ta, for link too, BUT I`ve already ordered that boss, and sent it back as it does NOT fit. Got a refund , but not best pleased. Mine has no air-bag. Just don`t like feel of disintigrating rubber under my fingers.

Had the same problem on my non-airbag 300tdi. Bought a Rover 100 1.4 wheel off e-bay the other day. Same number of splines, fits well and importantly for me is about 2" less in diameter which makes steering a lot easier and saves the elbow on the door.

Fit a later D1 ES leather covered and laced steering wheel and it will come with an air bag .

So how about this one.

Ta for the replies. Got a rover 100 wheel ordered now. Wheel & postage less than a leather glove or just a disco wheel!.

Had the same problem with my 300tdi wheel, the rubber had perished and gone manky. Got a leather ES wheel off fleabay and fitted it. Looks the biz and makes the truck feel loads better.

another one with the same problem!!
does anybody know wot other rover wheels will fit-metro or mini for example as these are very cheap on stealbay!

soggytomato, from what I understand the Metro wheel fits the 200tdi, not 300tdi - gathe rthis is a spline issue.

Don't know about the other Rover wheels but imagine that there must be some inter-changeability between models.

thanx for that--mines a 95 300tdi with no-airbag.

i'll keep on the look out for a cheap rover 100 wheel then-theres gotta be one at a breakers near me!!

rover 100 steering wheel flirted on my disco 300tdi, sooo much better looking, feeling and easier to use all round, only thing to beware of is the nut doesnt go all the way down the shaft when you fit the metro steering wheel, but a good dab of thread lock and it does the trick, well worth a tenner !

Can anyone confirm the Metro wheel fits a 200.

How many splines should it have?

Ok so perhaps I should ask how many splines on a 300tdi as standard

dunno tbh mate, just buy a metro steering wheel and try it, if it dont fit someone on here with 300 will have it off you surely?!

ive just bought an ES steering wheel but the wiring for the horn has me stumped anyone know a fix??

the griginal is 2 spade connectors (1 larger than the other)

the new es wheel has 2 pins in the centre of the airbag?
do i need a wiring loom as well, ive seen these on ebay?
