right i think ive fcuked up the pump timing !
ive got the cam, crank and pump all pinned up , turned the engine by hand five times rechecked the timing and the pins fitted perfectly. does it start ?
does it fcuk. i redid all the belt timing rechecked everything same problem
i mangaged to get the engine started, it ran like it was on tickover even though the throttle was pressed fully down. after a few moments it reved up but full revs it didnt sound as though it was right.
let the revs off and it is running lumpy, rev it again and after a few seconds it revs up fully but still not right and theres a fair bit of blue smoke.
while messing about getting the IP pully to line up and pin it i used the large center nut in the middle of the injector pump sprocket to move the pump. the nut came loose and the whole belt pully moved slightly.
IP = injector pump
i reckon the IP timing has moved but i aint sure if it can do this ?
if you remove the three 10mm bolts that hold the IP belt pully to the IP shaft there is a boss that is bolted to the IP shaft by the large bolt. is this boss just bolted to the shaft or is there a woodruff key in the IP shaft that wont allow the boss to move ?
this is doin my head in. i have done loads of transit 2.5di engine timing belts and they are a piece of piss compaired to this b*stard thing !
you would have thought land rover would have a system as easy to work with as transit but oh no.
its a right c*ntin thing and its melting my head !
any help would be very much appreciated
