3.9 V8 Disco, 10 MPG??

Hi Guys

Ive got my 3.9v8 and recently checked the mpg, im getting about 10, and thats driving very sensibly, im pretty sure that it should be slightly higher than that? or am i just hoping its meant to be higher?

i would be giving lpg serious consideration...

Is it manual or auto?

My auto does about 10 to 12 around the town, but I have got 22mpg to 24mpg on motorway run at 70mph but that was the best ever. Average is about 15mpg

Getting about 11.5 from mine on gas but it only does short journeys ferrying the missus to work and back. Best is 16 on a run to North Wales.

My D2 V8 was less economical than my old D1. Used to get average 12 around town if I drove like a granny. High teens to low 20's on Motorway. Cost a f*ing fortune to run.

Now have oil burner on Rapeseed..... Happy Days

Blow the tyres up hard and use the massive torque of the V8 rather than revving it always helps
My 3.5 90 on SU carbs is currently averaging 22 mpg in everyday use (longish runs), dropping to 17 on local work and thats on aggressive mud terrain tyres.

hehehe, its an auto, and ive decided the cheapest option was to buy a smart car, and just use the disco for the weekends where im working on beating your 80 miles to a tank of fuel juiceyv8 its now time to break out the lead foot and see if i can push the pedal through the bulkhead floor!!
