Hi all I have come across a defender 90 that I am thinking of buying but the person who has it took it in a PX and has told me the engine is a 2.5 with turbo and has the 200Tdi gear box on it but since then has said it is a 2.25 with turbo and 200Tdi gearbox so please could someone tell me if the 200 Tdi is 2.5 or if its 2.25..Many thanks...Tony:confused::confused::confused:

200tdi, 300tdi & td5 are all 2.5L. The old turbo diesel (19J) was a 2.5L as well.

if you can, take a picture of the engine and post it on here, someone will tell you what it is.

2.5

Series vehicles used to have 2.25 non turbo diesels, but they were slow.

Very surprised if it's a 2.25, has it got a long flat aluminium intake manifold with stripes on top and a land rover badge? Cos thats Tdi.

Hello all.

New to this forum.

Are all 200 TDi engines as pictured?

I viewed a 90 an Saturday, claimed to have a genuine 200 TDi but looked like a 19J to me! Walked away because the story changed as the viewing went on. And the transfer box was running with oil; despite the description saying 'this Landy does not drop oil'. Usual game, cracking description and turns out to be a 'trader', log book pre signed by the last owner???. Shame because it had a galv. chassis and bulk head but too much money to be taking a chance.

Any way, too much waffle for a first post, third line was the question!

Kind regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew.243 can you tell me where and how much it is cos I don't want to be travelling 80 miles to find its the one you saw..cheers... Tony
