1997 discovery v8i high emissions

Hi, ive just bought a v8i disco with no lpg conversion, and it has gone for an mot and the emissions are high. The vehicle has two new stainless cats and new sensors which are none genuine parts as far as i know. How do i get the emissions down to pass ? the garage has tried a variety of things including resetting the timing to no avail.

easy! you get the MOT man to stick the emissions tester onto a punto instead of your disco when he does the test

lol, that does seem the easiest way round it.

A long shot but have you tried adding that emissions reducer additive stuff you get in garages? I had a beemer that I was worried about, it only had about a fivers juice in it, I added a whole bottle (should be per tank) and it passed, the MOT man said he could smell it it was that strong a mix but it still passed.

A tester mate of mine used to do that, until VOSA man caught him :doh: he don't do it any more

What's it actually failed on? what part of the emissions are high?

Its running high on the fast idle co limit.

Did you give it a good thrash just before the MOT? That can help.

I picked it up from Gloucster and drove it back to Bristol on the motorway and for the last 2 weeks have used it everyday. Ive been up to the garage picked it up, used the emission reducer and took it back and it has passed.
