1994 Discovery ES

Hi guys,
Adding to the fleet.

Just in the process of buying a 300 tdi (So I'm told) Auto ES Discovery.

No real rust issues or corrosion.

A/c disconnected (will be re instated) and apart from then from the phone call a very genuine car. (Speedo stopped working whilst parked up but it can be sorted I'm sure).

Can anyone advise me of the spec on the ES.

I know it's got leather, A/c, CD player, 4 Speed auto.

Do they come with heated seats, ABS, Air bags, cruise etc?

I've been spoilt with my P38 (which I'm keeping as a "best" motor!) which is a 4.6 Autobiography spec with lpg.

I've got a Landrover (Bog standard) Discovery commercial on loan and am extremely impressed with the load space. So I'm thinking I can use the discovery as a van as well (Dont carry much only boxes and me 3 German Shepherd Dogs!

Its very difficult to spec a Land Rover coz of all the extras added by the first owner.

The best way to find out what's fitted is to have a look at your particular vehicle using the regd mk or chassis no. on Microcat, everything that was fitted at manufacture is listed.

Can I get a copy of Microcat anywhere?

Mine is '94 built, 95 model year. It has Air con, CD changer, leather seats, twin electric sun roofs, ABS and air bags, but no heated seats or cruise control

Looking very positive so far!

Just had pictures sent. Some light surface rust inside rear doors and door bottoms.
A small hole inside back door on the edge of the floor (To outside valence)
Chassis clean.

I'll be searching the forum on corrosion remedy now so I can sort and a full treatment of waxoil before it gets worse I think!

got myself a 97 ES this week, clocked up my 1st 100 miles with a big smile on my face, absoloutly love it !!!

the heated/electric leather seats are fabulous-especialy comming out fo work at 3.30am every morning when its -5 ! been reading through the manual for it too-so many features and things to learn

only things i need to address are the cruise control get fixed, re gas the air con in the summer, and the cd multichanger doesnt seem to work, buit didnt even know it had one until today when i read in the manual and looked-and shes there under the seat , so a bonus its there, even got a roof rack in the tool kit-another bonus suprise !!!

i want to find out some info on the es when new, what is this microcat thing?

A heated windscreen, fog lamps and an automatic dipping mirror also come as standard in 1997

got all of them, although the auto mirror is a bit knackered, useable as a mirror but think the auto function is shot, mirror needs replacing but sadly £115 im not paying that !!! il wait for an ebay one to pop up

fog lights,heated screens,waher jets on front lights, air con, pas, radio,electric morriors,electric windows and sunroofs, central locking and alarm, heaters, interior lights etc , all works as it should

just need to get the cd multi changer and cruise control sorted, mates gonna take it to work this comming week and do a dummy mot, check everything and ensure the mot put on this week was done to a proper standard,and look at the cruise control and just check everythings ok and running properly , he looked it over today and said shes nice and good nick, he was impressed, and gave him a little kick to get crackong on the range rover classsic vogue v8 hes recently bought..n wel be out having fun and adventure !!

any ideas about the multi changer ? is it easy to remove ? have no idea if its working/unplugged or what

Chances are the internal fuse in the changer has blown.
4 bolts remove the brackets and then a few screws to get the cover off the changer, fuse is on the circuit board
But first check the connector hasn't came loose from a rear seat passenger's stray kick
