Hi. Please ignore the title, wrong part!!! I'm staying in clackton in Essex this week and my offside trailing arm has snapped on my 1995 300 tdi disco. Anyone got one I could purchase or know of a local garage who could weld it for me? Any help would be greatly apprieciated! Cheers. Pete.

Cheers :) Looks like I can get a new arm and bolts from rimmer bros delivered next day to the park we are staying on so anyone local who could pop round sometime this week with some tools would be great as I have only got an adjustable spanner an a small socket set with me!!! :rolleyes:
 
just had a cuppa tea and egg sandwich, so thinking more clearly..
Pete, if I brought a BIG ratchet strap, plus a bit of metal tube to slide over the joint, do you recon you could drive the 6 miles to mine ?
everything we need is at mine, plus your just 20 mins walk from yours if needs be along the seawall..
just thinking out aloud really ?

or maybe plan B
weld at broken joint then weld a strong tube over rewelded joint, have it split along center line, then by placing 1st half then weld then next half all clamped before welding...
it would make it to mine no probs, plus make it easier to undo the big nut
=thin slitting blade in angle grinder longways on nut will make it a doddle..

rain stopped play at home on mine.... :rolleyes:

Sounds like a good plan! :D I've ordered a new arm, chassis bush an nut which should be here tomorrow or wednesday at the latest.

cheers mate, but pete is about 6 miles by road, 20 minuets walk along the seawall from mine..
got my old disco to tow, but If I can bodge weld on site, pete can drive to mine, me following, then the real work can be done at mine..
(mines still with huge hole in roof ex rear sunroof = rain stopped play today, got the sheet steel plus good sealant & pop rivets, waiting for drier weather)
 
Well plan B worked well,
welded broken axle location arm on site,
drove in convoy of 2 to mine,
backed up on ramps and removed the shaft = the big nut was a doddle, the axle one was`nt..
the wimmin had a natter, the boys had a natter,
and its even prompted me to tidy up my tools that had been left in a complete mess since my cambelt change :D
just waiting new parts to be bolted back on...

we picked a nice day anorl..
