Guys, not all the time but every so often when I am out driving the 90 she gets this weird "cough". I am motoring along nicely and there is a sudden total loss of power, if I release the accelerator and then reapply the accelerator the engine runs fine. When this happens it is normal for it to happen several times within a few minutes and eventually the coughing fit passes and it all works fine.

I had wondered whether I had alot of sediment in my fuel tank because she is old (1984) and the previous owners did very low miles (two thousand a year or less for a decade) and I am now using her more. Just wondering if on some journeys I am unsettling sediment and causing a fuel blockage?

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on what to check?

Hello mate, hope you're well?

Sounds like you've pretty much answered your own question there but I would change the fuel filter first and if that doesn't cure it you can also do the lift pump cheaply and easily.

Incidentally are you on Facebook as us guys that went to Granby are all on there and you're missing out on some pics.

Have fun ;)

Andy - love the new photo of you in that mud pool. My nice new yellow strap got truely christened!!

I will take a look at the fuel filter. The weird thing is that the last coughing fit was on the way home from Granby when I got upto speed (50 mph) on the Fosse Way heading back to Cheltenham. But if it is sediment then why did I not experience it when we were messing around at Granby? I was stuck in the mud and the 90 was reving and any sediment would have been truely mixed up. So why did the coughing fit not occur until I was back on the tarmac and doing 50 mph????

I think I am on FB, I will send you an email if I work out my username.....I am not very socially media wise!

BTW - snorkel is going on this weekend along with repaired extended breathers. Ready for the next day out.

Good stuff Rich, not sure why it would only happen on tarmac but definately sound fuel related.

Speak soon, need to get MOT done and dusted and then we'll do Granby again when a lot drier ;)
