Hi, some mates and I have been trying to get a troublesome 2.5L Diesel 110 up and running.

We suspected that the fuel injection pump was to blame and had this tested. It turns out that this was full of water and had seized. It seems that water has gotten into the diesel system somehow. Is there a common cause for this?

We are going to replace the fuel injection pump and wonder if any of the other parts will likely need replacing. The injectors themselves perhaps?

Should we flush the tank and entire fuel system and how do we go about doing this? Alternatively, will putting fresh diesel in and running her for a bit do the flushing for us?

Finally, could the water in the diesel have caused any other problems for us, such as within the cylinders for example?

Water in the diesel is not good for anything thats going to be carrying/pumping it, or the cylinders getting sprayed with it.

Water can form in the tank if the tank is kept low and was left for a while, the condensation on the tank drips into the diesel and if left long enough with little diesel in the tank can leave more water than diesel.

Drain the tank, change the filter, and get as much water out of the pipes as possible (pump lift pump until diesel spills from pipes then connect into filter assy, then get diesel to spill from injection pump input pipe before connecting it, then bleed through the IP and injector pipes then connect it all up and see if it goes.

The water could have knackered the injectors and the injection pump.

Filling the IP with kero first might help ease it off better...
