Hi all, sorry if this doesn't work the first time! Not 100% sure how to upload photos!
Rather than spend a fortune on the side window vent kit I decided to have a go my self - At a car boot one day a saw a waste pipe (tube and round plastic bit where the sink plug would normally be attached!) After much haggling I got it for 20p!!
Then managed to get another one and a load of waste pipe tubing off my girlfriends brother-in-law (plumber).
So in Blue Peter style the other weekend I attempted the bodge!
Stripped off the dash, drilled holes in the side covers and again in the window vents. Then simply pushed the waste pipe into the previously drilled vent hole so that air from the blower would be forced up and long the waste pipe and hopefully onto the side windows.
Then I connected this into the side pannels and carfully re-fitted the dash. Eventually I will run silicon around the window vents rather than gaffer tape! but I was loosing feeling in my hands and was in need of whiskey by that point!!
Result? shocked myself really! Since fitting these I've had some cold/damp early starts and the side windows have been misted up as normal. Within a few minutes of driving it had cleared enough to be able to use the wing mirrors and once the engine is up to temp it seems to pretty much keep the side windows clear (although I will keep testing this)
Also, there still seems to be enough air on the windscreen to keep this clear as well!
The passenger side vent was plastic chrome effect(!) which I tried to colour with a black pen but failed! Eventually I'll spray it matt black although I never really see it!
Took about half a day to fit and cost a total of about 50p I recon. It probably doesn't clear the windows as well as the kit you can buy but I recon it was worth a punt.
Anyway - before I bore you anymore, here's a link to the photos (not in order I'm affraid) Hopefully this will work but if not a try again in a bit.
