Thought I'd post photos of the fitting instructions for reference.

Ive not fitted mine yet, but In section 3 of the instructions it states to drill 16mm holes, but Ive been told that you can get away with drilling 12mm holes instead.

Might need to zooooom in a little to read the text.

Enjoy:)

Ive recently fitted one to my TD5, it also states 16mm holes, however a good piece of advice I got was to use a step drill (conical shaped drill bit that steps from ...mm to ...mm, they come in different sizes) I started off with 12mm holes and ended up going to 14mm to get the position bang on.

Yeh, I noticed that the instructions suggest using a step drill, never heard of them before but just ordered one from ebay. Cheers:)

By the way, now that you've fitted one, would you suggest using rivnuts instead of the bolts and nuts? And did you bother with the foam gasket or just use sillicone sealant?

Cheers

It's a few years since I fitted the Safari Snorkle to my 300TDi but from what I remember and what your drawing shows there are threaded studs which screw into captive-nuts in the main body and nuts hold it onto the wing so where would Rivnuts be of use?
No need to go overboard with the sealant as the foam-rubber gasket does nothing for the actual sealing of the snorkle. On the 300TDi/TD5 model there is a spigot which sticks through the air-intake hole onto which the flexible-pipe connects whereas I believe that 200TDi & Safari copies do not have this spigot and the snorkle to wing seal is more important.
Never had any issue with the drilling of the holes, I suppose with larger holes it is easier to align (more room for error) but I seem to recall mine went together using smaller holes without any problems.

Your right, no need for rivnuts.

Dam, and there was me wanting to buy one of these. Might have to buy some headlight guards to fit instead
