Default Oil Dipstick?

Hello,

Does any body know where I can buy a 200tdi (discovery) oil dipstick tube complete with olive please? I think my exisiting pipe's olive has worn because my readings have been up and down all week (I've been keeping an eye on it).

Thanks

It doesn't make sense no, BUT it is a well known problem on the Tdi's. The dipstick tube is secured with an olive and a nut into the sump. The olive can either wear or slide down the dipstick tube a little and in return the dipstick tube then moves up or down (through the lock nut) into the sump. It might only be slight but in oil reading terms, a few mm is a big difference!

I'd fit another olive but if I can get the whole tube for around a fiver, I'd do that instead because it comes with the olive 'stuck' in the right place. That way, I know that it's set to the right length.

Not well up on the 200tdi ...... is this what you are looking for? ERC8980 DIP STICK TUBE (METRIC) | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series stick&page=1

Cheers for the link . It's not quite the right one but im sure I'd be able to adapt it to fit. I had a look on the lrseries website and I noticed that there are a few dip stick tubes for about 25, one of which is no doubt the 200tdi one! They're expensive engines part wise for some reason

The correct one is - ERR1248 TUBE DIPSTICK | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

(Why is replacement MORE expensive than genuine? )

And 200TDi Parts is the reason why i am going to put a 300TDi in mine
