Todays small job is fixing the courtesy light in the front.

First problem was that there was no bulb in it at all. Have remedied that now, and the light comes on when you open the passenger door, but not the drivers.

I have tested the switch with a multimeter and it works fine, but even if I touch the connector on something metal, it still doesn't work.

So my question...are there any known places I need to look for a break in the wire? Or any suggestions on what else I can check?

I suppose the first thing I'd do is check for continuity between the lamp end of the wire and the end at the door switch, to see if it goes all the way through. The way these things normally work is that the lamp is always live and the door switch completes the earth path when the door opens. I suppose there might be a break in the wire somewhere, but I'd be most inclined to consider the contacts and terminals - separate them and scrape the green stuff off so you can see some bright copper and put them back together.

Right, ok. Thanks. Looks like this isn't a common problem!

I have cleaned the switch end of the wires, so I guess the next step is to take the light out and see what is going on.
