Gearbox, transfer gearbox and axel oils?

Afternoon,

Iv just completed a full oil and filter change on my 2002 Defender TD5. Next on the list is to renew the axel oil and both the gearbox and transfer gearbox oils. I have a Haynes manual and have tried to find the correct lubricants, I'm about to place an order on amazon as shown in the picture and just want to double check I'm not going wildly wrong!

Any help would be great.

Brilliant cheers for that, Haynes says the castrol syntrax 70w/90 for the transfer gearbox but I had read all sorts! If it will be fine with the comma go45l ep80w/90 gl4 gear oil il save a fortune, and Iv seen the mtf94 for the main gear box by silverhook on amazon. Keen not to muck it up! Cheers again
 
The syntrax is as youve probably guessed syn tranny oil and is expensive
The syn trans oils certainly have less drag than the std oils, I can testify to that as Ive noticed a difference in my motor, but they also tend to leak more!
But good old 80/90 is the cheapest way to go.
Run of the mill atf is also the cheapest way to do the gearbox, really any atf dextron 2 or 3 will do the job.
Again the syn stuff from the difflock site used to be very good
 
My thoughts are, regular changes are the most important thing.
My motor had syntrax In the gearbox when I bought it and it was truly awful.
So I changed to mtf94 and to be honest it wasn't much better so I tried ATF, and it's ok now, I just change it often.
Oil filters are a pain!
 
Yea that oil filter was a git, It certainly hadn't been put on by hand, nor had the fuel filter! Iv got one of those filter straps you use with a wrench, and even that took a bit to get it off! Planning on doing it each summer so il go for that stuff now and change it again in a year
 
Changed all transmission oils today. A few notes in case it's useful to anyone.
I called Dingocroft as they are nearby and asked for oils for gearbox, transfer box and axles for Y2K TD5 Defender.
They supplied:
5L of Land Rover MTF94 for gearbox. I think I used about half
3L of Ravenol 75 / 90 TYK500010D for transfer box. I used exactly 2 litres
5L of Ravenol EPX 80W90 for axles. I used exactly 4 litres, just over 2L rear and just under 2L front.
I'm very happy with Dingocroft service and with having spare for top-ups. I was given the offer that I could return any unopened oils. I chose to keep the 2 unused litre bottles as spares.
I used a Sealey 3 litre hand pumped transmission filling system. Hugely expensive but far less oil down my sleeves than previously. Expensive luxury but seems to work well.
I'm sure the Ravenol oil is fine but it's really hard to get the lids off the 1L bottles to put the old oil back in. I had to resort to vice and screwdriver. I don't think I will buy again unless they change the bottles.
