Extra Gauges - well pleased!

Having seen a number of threads about Raptor and Mud Pods, I became bitten by the desire to add some more gauges to my 90, but wanted to find a simpler/smaller mounting solution.

I settled on the TIM gauges, which looked a reasonable match to the existing ones, and decided to go for a volt meter, turbo and oil pressure gauge. That left me needing to find something to mount them in, eventually choosing a £5 triple mount pod on fleabay.

Today has been spent threading cables, overcoming the challenge of the oil pressure switch (turned out to need a 1” socket to undo, and nowhere near enough clearance to make fitting a T piece easy!) and then struggling with inserting a T into the turbo pipe (maybe using a hot air gun to soften the pipe wasn’t the most inspired idea!).

The job is now done so I thought I’d share the result – if I say so myself (well, my wife hasn’t said it yet), I’m well pleased!

Cor - you have been busy! You've done well to get them all fitted in a day. It took me weeks (of weekends!)
That pod looks good there - how did you fit it in the end?

looks smart, i want to do that but have my stereo there and dont want to move it back to the underside of the dash... hmmmm

To be honest a bit of a bodge - couldn't get a drill or screwdriver in to use self tappers, and not much surface to screw into anyway.

Basically ran all the pipes/cables, wedged the pod in place, and then used a shed load of Unibond Repair Express (2 part epoxy putty that sets up in 5 mins) squidged in through the gauge openings to fix the pod to the grey vent plastic - it's meant to be able to take a few kg in weight, and feels pretty solid.

That left the problem of not being able to fit the gauge securing brackets (gauges had to go in after the pod was fixed :doh, so another bodge - a couple of layers of black electrical tape around the gauge body made a nice tight fit when they were pushed into the pod, but still able to be removed if bulbs need changing

I like that set up......I like the fact your 'air conditioning' is still effective. Bit concerned about the heavy smoking 2 x 12v outlet looks far nicer! You should be pleased... good job.

One is original and ignition controlled

I have a solar panel for keeping the battery topped up, and needed a permanent live socket for that - hence the two! Accept could have converted the original, but had the space....

Managed to pick up a matching LR orginal dead cheap, so went for the symmetrical look!!!!

i wish mine looked like that inside welldone mate bet your wel chuffed
