Defender Wiper Spindle

hi all

had an electrician come sort out my electrics today. the motor to my window whipers is working fine but my whper spindles are seased. tomorow i wanna have a go of working them free and see if i can get them working again.

dose anyone know how i can get to them? do i have to take the whole dash apart ?

How long is it since they were last used?

I've never come across siezed spindles before.

Undo the end of the dash and drop the motor out. Then try pulling the spring drive through. If it comes out ok yer spindles aren't seized.

well i unhooked it from the motor from the cable and motor is working perfectly fine

when we first tryed to work them they moved about an inch. im thinking alot of WD40 and plenty of pulling on the cable to work it loose. im not looking forward to taking the dash off hahaha but i do have all day tomorow so i mays well

but any other info or advice on freeing them up would be apreciated

well i got half the dash apart. happy to say that the spindle behind the wheel an dials is fine and spinning. its not spinning fully spining becasue the other spindle on the passengers side wont let it spin. is there a way i can just the 1 spindle out without taking them both out. ive tryed popping it throuch but the cable wont let it come free

If ye undo the nuts on the back of the bracket, it'll come off... don't forget the nut on the spindle bit that pokes through the bulkhead...

nice one, i got the back part off, but the cable wont unhoock the wheel and the hooks holding it in place

FINALY!

i got it moving! i didnt have to take it out at all in the end. some WD40 inside, some nore on the outside. was giving it a wobble while spraying. would do that for about 5 minutes every hour. its now 12:30am and i went to give it a wobble an a spray and it was spinning freely

motor back in tomorow to see how it goes

yeah im gunna run out in a bit an get some. looks like all i need now is wheels
