Brake pad fell out

Well it was an interesting drive to work this morning going down a nice steep hill about 50 mph put the brakes on and this load knockking was coming from the o/s front wheel so stoped to have a look, and the little bolt that goes though the caliper and the pads t hold them in place had gone, so when i put the brakes on the pads moved:eek:, Luckly had my tools in the back so hi lift out wheel off and a 6 inch nail was a nice fit bent over so its out the way of the wheel and cant fall out, quick fix got me to work any way:D

I'm guessing that the split pin rusted badly and then jut fell to bits. Check the others are all ok.
