Hs thinks it ****. Thats an opinion based on summit. I cant understand how you have such strong veiws on landy related service providers yet dont own a landy. Personally flux were the chapest on range rover by far, a bit off on mondeo and miles off on fiesta quotes.

You have a Fiesta??? Sorry but I'm off to remove ya from me friends list  :bump2:

:p :p :p

It's a standard charge to all customers so don't mind saying what it cost.

The transfer box had a 100% strip down and replacement of worn parts where needed.
The ratio was changed from 1:222 to 1:410 and also had a cross drilled input gear fitted.

Total was around the £575 mark.

Hard to give an accurate figure as I part ex'd a a totally knackered R380 box (wasn't much left that was usable) & badly worn transfer box, so obviously parted with a lot less ££ than that.

Cheers I have a spare R380 & transfer box off me old 300TDI disco. and will be picking up an LT77& transfer box out of a fender shortly. Might have to give him a ring and see what sort of a deal I can strike with him. As I want my fender R380 and Transfer box reconditioning.

Andy will probably want to strip down and assess anything you're thinking of part exchanging in, unless you can assure him of what sort of working condition the boxes are in.

I basically gave him what I had and just told him to knock off the bill what the boxes were worth to him, after he'd stripped them both down.
Turns out the R380 box was absolutely shot and worth a lot less than the average part ex'd R380, but the transfer box was ok and got a good price for it.

So on that basis alone, an accurate over the phone quote might be hard to ascertain. :)

Disco box was in good condition (as was T box) I was driving em around up until the MOt became due. though the transfer box came out of a 200TDI and has fook knows how many miles on it. I have been assured the fender lt77& Tbox are in good condition. But have no real idea yet.

Oh and don't tell Beasty But I could always pikey the half a doz series boxes & Axles that he has stored in the workshop :D :D..

Both my boxes leak badly and there's **** loads of play in the driveline. I can rock the front of the fender back and forth about a foot when the Handbrake is on

I had an ascroft box LT77 fail on me 13 month in. Although I rate them for shafts diffs etc the first gearbox I had from them failed and due to I think a cock up and dave and ian being on hols the receptionist never offered me the chance of a at cost rebuild that Dave does if it fails prematurely. Problem is I live 2 minutes away and they were the only people to see really back when I got mine done. Would I go there again..... Probably everyone needs a second chance it could have been some numpty they employed mis judgement etc. What I would do is any failures or premature failure/problems I get would get posted on every forum and site if i got another bad box

If I remember, Dave came on here and tried to make good the cock-up, Jai?

should have been free- while I have reasonable breif experience with Dave, the receptionist is money grabbing and VERY manipulative.

still with a asin warner auto I'd sooner buy the whole car £500

Sort of however nothing he could do really. We stripped the box and its currently under the workbench now worthless to man and beast until I make up some tools and have a clean garage (not looking likley for a while). Dave has always been good to us but he is a buisiness man. Wishing I phoned them back a week later when I could have spoken to Dave or Ian direct and been offered the fix. Lesson learnt. At the time I was fuming vowing never to use ashcroft ever again but hey ho I have used since and theyve been great.

I would like to get it rebuilt I know it needs a new input shaft as I know someone borrowed it to do a clutch and I found it laying in their garden a year later !

Still a few hundred quid if anyone would take it on that is which will only ever be a spare for my 90.

i dont want to fall out with the doubters, but i fitted a r380 from ashcroft and after 4years and 39k miles it was good. changed fine etc. sold the car so i cant say if its still going.

Having dealt with THAT receptionist I vowed never to deal with ashcroft, and being trade I could have sent them a fair bit.

I moved workshops a few years back and Im now a few yards away from a transmission place who are completely straight up and honest:D

NOt suggesting that every box they sell is fooked but why take the risk. when there's other companies getting far better feedback.
