Rear box fell off so am getting it done for MOT. While under looking at rear trailing arm bushes I noticed a hole in the mid section silencer.

Was looking for a mid section pipe straight through but can only find stainless steel. Does anyone know of a cheap mild steel version anywhere. Also, is the td5 mid section the same as the 300tdi? I think not but just want to confirm.

Also last time I did the exhaust was when I did the rear crossmember.
I had to drop the anti roll bar after fitting it to get the exhaust on. Is there an easier way or does that involve a ramp?

Only a couple of questions :)

James

Ring a local exshaust place, local place did my other halfs golf r32 £40 to cut a box out and put a pipe in, not worth the hassle of me driving it on to block to be able to jack it up, removing the exshuast cutting and the welding and refitting.

td5 is different ,jack under tow bar bracket to raise body away from axle helps

Thanks guys.
I would go to a local exhaust place but all I've got here is twitfit and national fleecers!
Does any one know of the centre section ready made in steel with out the silencer?? (Not stainless steel)

Thanks James

Oh well - cheers James.

I'll either weld up the hole for now or cut the box out and weld a bit of pipe in.
never know. the old rear section may have some salvagable. it snapped where it loops over the axle and I lost the back section somewhere??
