Which springs?

Personally I have ones from Jones Springs on my 80". (They are possibly GB springs remarketed but in the case of the narrower 80" rear springs they machine them down then retemper them)

One warning is due to the extra flexibility you should watch your rear propshaft as the splines could be overstretched when the axle drops.

For that reason I refitted nice new axle check straps. I have been trialling on them now for 18 months without a problem including the original shocks, and last month I was RTVing at Eastnor Castle!

so much negative press re: britpart springs, now i dont know what to believe!

do you have the only good set in the country??

Unless they now get the from a UK supplier dont bother....you can get them direct for a good price from spring makers GB Springs...very good quality...had them on mine for over 10 years.

I thought they only did parabolics? I've just sent them an email so fingers crossed. If they do then you've just helped me out massively Nick, so thanks.

i got an email back from GB Springs, they dont stock multileaf, but can make some for £135 per corner, plus VAT and delivery (£650 plus delivery). im sure they will be lovely spring but thats a bit rich for my blood at the moment. The search continues...

nothing major against parabolics, i did think about going down that route but i'd prefer to keep her reasonably standard. i understand just a good a ride can be achieved with standard springs with a bit of tlc, and that paras can be a bit bouncy. i already have new standard shocks and brake lines ready to go on, which would be no good with paras.

I have GB paras and everything on the vehicle is std...inc shocks and brake hoses.

Dont think I would call my ride bouncy...still hard if I try a speed bump at anything above walking pace.

I would never go back...no sagging after 10 years...bet your multi leaf wont be like that in a few years...but I understand where you are coming from re std fit.

My Landrover is my daily transport so I need to give in to a bit of comfort.

interesting, nick.

i was under the impression that all paras sit up too high and standard shocks are both too short and too slow reacting, being oil rather than gas. do you know how your landy compares to others?

Some do sit to high..my mate bought a set of Rock Mountains...sat so high the pro shaft was at full stretch...other cheap types Imported sit low.

GB Springs which I have had for many year are maybe 1 inch higher on the back and about std on the front.

My mate who had the RM paras fitted GBs after looking at mine...he is well impressed.

Multis alway start sagging...I have had my S3 from new...I can still remember how the back end started sinking after a few years...I even used to take em off and re profile them...just so glad when paras became available.

Well, that's quite compelling.

Given I can't find acceptable quality, new multileafs I best start looking at some paras. You don't work for GB Springs do you? :D:D (joke)

Must look that way...I'm sure if you ask on here you will get good comments about them...I can post some upto date pics if it helps.

My mate who is very very fussy is more than happy with them.

some pics would be very help if you can? im just doing a general search for reviews on GB.S.

currently laid up with a bad back, so stuck to the pc at the minute :s
