Speedo Cable

Anyone help ?

Need a new speedo cable for my 1972 S3 Diesel. The old one is broken at the speedo head end - by
the plastic collar which fastens to the head. It looks to me like I have a 2-piece cable. Could that be right ??

Reading around can't find out whether a S3 would originally have had the 2-piece, but if I can avoid changing the whole cable it would be good - sounds like a B*ll-ache if you have an overdrive fitted (which I do !)

Anybody recommend one type of cable over another ?

You're right it is a ball ache getting the screw next to the transfer box in. Dont go for a britpart one, apparantly it isnt very good and wears out quickly (What Ive heard, someones probably got one fitted thats been on since 1805 with no trouble)
