Does anyone know of a source for the black rubber tubing used for the coolant expansion bottle on a Series 3?

it has a 7.5mm bore and 10.7mm OD. The only black rubber tubing I can find on the internet is braided fuel hose. This is too thick to go through the clips on the radiator and bottle cage.

Thanks for any replies.

Try a search for silicone rubber tubing. Lots of sizes available, I use it to run the wiring loom through on my old bikes.

that's what I did, measured the id then did a search on the bay, lots of people selling it to length.

also picked up an entire tank with tubes etc which I fitted to the s1 which didn't have an expansion tank

I did manage to find some correct hose.

Would it be a problem to move the bottle up so that the cap is level with the top of the radiator? This would mean cutting the hose clip off the side of the radiator.

I am thinking that the bottle would be easier to refill and check its level this way.

my understanding is that the expansion bottle is there to take any excess liquid as the engine heats up and the pressure gets too high. once the engine cools and the pressure drops the water should get sucked back in. So the way to check the level is by taking the radiator cap off and seeing if the rad is full of coolant.

can't see the actual position of the bottle matters, in my non landy the expansion bottle is right at the back of the engine bay.

As Joe says you fill the rad not the expansion bottle on a series 3 rad.
Make sure the radiator cap has the rubber seal on as mine did not and took me two years to find out why rad was always low.

Thanks for the replies.

When I first got the series, there was no bottle or cage fitted. Before I started the full rebuild I was driving around without one. In fact I didn't even know it was supposed to be there.
