To save a lot of grief and travel is there anybody who can tell me what wheel rims for a series 2a are the same as other models, I have an offer of a couple of wheels, with traction tyres but he did not know which model they are from...... would they/ might they be the same as a Defender say... ??? five stud rims are all he offered me as far as sizes went so not a great deal of help unfortunately....

If they are steel land rover wheels they will fit. The only exception would be 101 wheels which have six studs

Be sure to look at the offset if you are not putting on in pairs. Front/Rear. I run long wheelbase rims on the rear and standard on the front. It was a while before I realised I had a mixture.

Thanks to you guys for the replies, it really helps me to make decisions I think..... The wheels on offer have now gone to four of, apparently the chaps dad fitted them to a cobbled together tractor he made some years back, it featured Landrover axles, hence the wheels. The tyres were originally for a Dumper truck, but that got cancelled and the old boy sort of acquired them eventually. They are Avon 7.00 X 16's on narrow width wheel rims removed from an old Landrover, Series 1 perchance.. ????????. They sound perfect for going into the woods this time of year however.... at least I now know what they are about even if they are mite ancient, but stored in the dry, off vehicle for ages and now up for grabs, so maybe I will indulge at the right price. The old boy used to have a Defender before he shuffled off the mortal coil hence the rather strange request, but thanks again, it helped me no end to know a bit about this..... my avatar is the offending vehicle of mine.. !!!

if they are early series 1s with early date stamps on they could be worth a good amount of money

Now that is a turn up for the books if they are, I know the chap selling them is anxious to rid himself of the burden due to selling the property they rest at currently. He has a Landrover front wing as well that was changed ages ago, I asked him to measure the depth at the front end, but he only had his wife's knitting tape measure, so I passed by on the request...... !! Not a lot else though apparently, a rusty wheelbarrow at the bottom of the garden is all that is available.... !! I collect on Sunday morning hopefully, but thanks for all the replies.
