Exclamation Series 3 dicky started motor

9 times out of 10 when I turn the key, the started motor refuses to start. I can hear it clicking and the ignition comes on, but the starter just doesn't turn. If I'm lucky it will but I don't really fancy push starting it a lot. Is my starter fucked or should I just take it out and beat it with a hammer for bit or any other suggestions?

Solenoid is fucked. I just swapped mine in the 2a (Whole new startermotor unit and its fine) or you might be able to clean it out?

Yeah, might just take it out and have proper look at it and test with some jump leads. If not, sod it, I'll get a new one. A trip to the local motor factors then.
