I was surprised your tank filler spout lined up with the corresponding hole in the back of the seat box. Certainly lots of Britpart new tanks don't. Mine certainly didn't.
About 18 months ago Land Rover monthly ran an article on replacing the tank and suggested that to get it to fit, the outrigger may need 'adjusting' they didn't elaborate on quite what they meant by 'adjusting the outrigger', but unsurprisingly the article was sponsored by the said manufacturer!

Had it easy as the tank was new when I got the Land Rover so had been fitted before. The guy who sold it said he had problems with it.

Bit of advice can anyone let me know if the spring fits as shown on the photo just cannot remember (old age you know) Cheers

Got the second coat on the tub (finnish coat) and the bulkhead and the back door e.t.c. Then a few spots or rain landed so I have a bit to re do. Pleased with the high shine I got from the last coat though.

Hi Land Raver yes it’s a 1982 model even has factory fitted carpets (yet to go back in)
Ok had a go at getting it running and after new points condenser and cleaning plugs found a break in the coil to dizzy wire, solved that and first touch of the key fired up!!!
Then went on to solve oil leak from oil filter housing and water leak from bottom hose, once running ok cleaned some of the engine with thinners and a rag. Also washed out breather with petrol.
My question is best way to fix the new vent seals either double sided tape or contact adhesive?
cheers

iirc people have used both with good results, heavy duty double sided tape used for holding body trim in place works well apparently, or glue/silicone held in place by masking tape till it sets
