Trying bit by bit to restore series 3, is there anywhere that shows original spec and finishes for one of these? Want to try to keep internal and external as close as I can to what it was back in 74 when it rolled out.

Jasper I found the series 3 parts catalogue RTC9841 CE very useful it shows the entire Landrover broken down into its component parts, which helps identify any missing or incorrect parts fitted by a previous owner. Other areas to get a full idea what your Landy should look like (I'm assuming from your post that its had quite a few modifications from standard) is in the monthly Classic Landrover magazine Classic Land Rover: Buying, driving, modifying and restoring authentic classic Land Rovers regards. Thanks chris that's a great help, funnily enough it's pretty original but a few things have been altered like the original galvanise has been glossed silver and its detail like this that I want to get back to originsl spec, also interior too!

Try Land Rover Series 3 specification guide by James Taylor. It includes all the little detail changes to spec over the years. Enjoyable to read, loads of photos and extremely detailed if you want to return to correct spec for year.

Jasper, I have the complete parts, service manual, optional extras plus all part n catalogue nos. in PDF format. The total package in PDF. If u cannot access this stuff on the forum I'm happy to forward it. It all appeared by magic in 2007 on the web for about 2 months and then J/LR closed it down.

Thanks Blackburn, checked that out some really interesting stuff on there. Cool stuff like optional extras lists, who knew passenger door lock would be optional extra! The good old days when you could leave everything unlocked and have it still there in one piece the next morning ;)
