Just finished a round trip of Oman, desert, rock, mountains and coast. Amazing.

Ran into a few old series in the old towns. Used to be a land rover country, especially with the military but now it's all Toyotas.

Mainly used for for dragging boats and nets up the beach, many are still used long after we would regard then as completed dead.

+1 on the pics, absolutely fab

I wouldn't have thought they would've fared that badly either in view of the heat, I guess the salt in the sand causes the problems

I had the dubious privilege of living in Sohar for a while.... everything rusts like crazy but gets sandblasted a lot!

yeah Sohar... not too much going on there.

There's a weird thing with cars in oman they get more love than anyone else I've seen, but only to the outside. underneath it's always a sorry story. Dust distress the grease and on the coast a bit of wind will bring in all the salt.

I'm actually impressed, all of those cars where coastal cars, none would have had any real maintenance, and 'landy knowledge' is no where to be found here. no spare parts, no servicing.
