remove rear prop and try it , though if its just started after fitting axle its the axle with the issue either pinion bearings or incorrect setting,who reconned it

it has got oil it it ? but it would seem it needs to go back

Something being too tight could cause it to whine (thrust washers etc.) Doesnt have to be much
