Just make sure you stay outside the M25.

A mate of mine took another old diesel vehicle (not a Land Rover) into London for a Royal British Legion event. He also wasn't aware of this and got a £200 fine. I think they keep it poorly publicised on purpose as a way to raise money.

I think you may be able to get an exemption if the vehicle is under 3.5 Tons Max Gross Weight, as someone else I know did with a 1993 Defender 90. Apparently his logbook said 3499kg so he was able to get a letter of exemption from the DVLA.

The low emission zone also applies to all diesel commercial vehicles made before 2001. Land Rovers get caught as vans if they weren't made with seats in the back. This means that an original series station wagon would be fine. However, a van sided one with exactly the same engine wouldn't be. Vehicles made before 1st Jan 1973 are also exempt.

Tbf the logbook on this 1982 88" logbook does state that the revenue weight is also 3499kg gross. So you could probably blag it. Just checked it.
Cheers for the heads up and i doubt i will be heading anywhere near the m25 anytime soon, let alone in this peach :D

Right guys does anyone have or know anybody selling a 2.25d need one asap!
Made some more progress with this and bought it some goodies, I'll post when I'm back from holiday.

I have a very low miles 19j td and and I have standard wheels with old school mud terrain tyres

Thanks for the offer but I have a defender tdi that I'm waiting for, just need this 2.25 so I can get mine mot'd and niggle any other small issues she has before the 200tdi conversion that I'm hoping to do over Christmas.

How much are you after for the wheels? Pm me if you like.

Cheers

I hate standard steels and I have wanted eight spokes for a while so would be happy to swap, I would prefer to keep my noisy tyres too as not that old and you can't have a series 2a without noisy 750's.
But can go with wheels if yours are legally safe and un cracked as mine are,

LOL why not drop me a text I can call or txt back if you wanted?

Didn't realise you left your number in your previous post, I am actually currently on Spain on holiday so only been popping on here when I have a break in a place with wifi.
Would you sell your wheels seperately as ideally wanted to keep the set I have currently fitted as a spare set.
I fly back Sunday morning so can get in contact after that.

Can I get some pictures please? I'm interested but I'm Still trying to source a 2.25d quite (which is the only thing stopping it getting mot'd), messaged so many people on eBay and the only one that is any good is the £175 but it's in west Wales which is about a 8 hour each way trip :(

I would but I cant get pictures on here,

rims are original series items, could do with a repaint in the beautiful LIMESTONE

tyres are not that old they are 750 mud terrains a lovely tyre not TOOOOOO noisy,
there is no perishing or tears

that's all I can say, if you wanted I can send them to you? (you would pay) then you just send me the money?,

I wanted to send a picture but I have no way other than awaiting my mate to come back from off shore work

Sorry completely forgot about those wheels, going to have to give them a miss sorry to mess you about, as been having a nightmare with this engine (hopefully doing a 7 hour round trip tomorrow night to pick one up) The engine has taken my priority.

Just as a little update, managed to get the old girl running (after it being in storage for about 4 years) Starter motor seized so took it off free'd it up and it fired up straight away! Shame the oil started p1ssing out of the inlet :( So picking up a replacement 5 bearing 2.25d tonight and hoping to get it fitted saturday.
Also sourced a few parts, managed to get a period plate made from tippers plate which i love, also a numberplate bracket to mount the number plate back in the middle of the bumper properly. Also bought a replacement centre seat to replace the damaged item and also started to sort out the rear folding bench seats.
Here's some pics (roof is off so it fits in the garage where it is being stored until its mot'd)
