got a crackingly well made pair of sill bars from mill services for my 88"
I have etch primed and painted them (they were galv) and also managed to replace bulkhead outrigger bolts that the front of the sills attach too (blood sweat and tears!)

I'm after some tips or pictures how the petrol tank outrigger bracket fits-can it be done with tank in situ?

Hi joe I just ordered a pair today, tried to get discount but nothing given, I not seen the bracket but if your careful and got room for drill I don't think it would need too much farting about with, you got any pics????

Joe can you post a pic of the tank end of the sill and any associated bracket that has come with them , was in touch with them myself yesterday.
There was an old post on here of original Mill Services sills and the tank bracket was 45 degree upto top of outrigger at tank end.

no problem, will get a pic tonight guys as my bulkhead bolts have arrived just now,
the only brackets sent with bars are two 8" lengths of 6mm flat bar (seen at top of pic)

ok, bulkhead end:

bulkhead end bolted up to existing long bolt:

didn't have to remove step:

Looks good, I opted for the rail which I am hoping to use as a step, didn't realise they take place of the cill, thought they fitted under cill but can't have everything..
Which ones did you opt for mr Blackburn?

Hi I have not ordered yet as wanted to know where the raer was fixed too .
As mine is a new galvanised chassis [2010] that location should not be a problem.
Wanted to go for the ones with tubes fitted as I have two artificial knees and whilst I manage ok to get in at present a step for the future will be a bonus.
Also last weekend I damaged my sills anmd door when I slipped into a washout on a track.

Got mine today, had a quick up close dry fit to see what they like but think I will have to wait to see proper when they fitted.
Does the bulkhead/outrigger bolt screw all the way or is it take nut off and hit as hard as you can?????

I bought the mill services bars many years ago when the original guy started before taking ill n selling up, superb quality and opted for the ones with the sloped tree slider bar which as said makes a perfect step..... good to see they are still going

if you are not replacing the bolt just take nut off and slide sill bracket over and put nut back on.
If you are replacing bolt then undo nut so it sits flush with end of bolt and whack seven bells out of it - it just pushes out (no screwing).
Trouble is the bolt wastes down through the bulkhead and rusts in fast, there are two tiny hole in the end of your bulkhead outrigger - keep filling them with penetrating fluid a few days before you start whacking.

Big moan coming on..,,.,.,.,.
Nice early start this morning, well just before 10am, all tools out ready and away I go drivers side nut came off no problem, going too well I thinks, correct bolt was !!!@",:! Got it half way out and either the bulkhead dropped or the outrigger popped up so I was left with bolt half way out and an headache trying to figure out how to get new bolt in and old bolt out the remaining way 4 hours later and no further forward. Decided to do other side, completed in about an hour even with blunt drill bits. Packed up at 6pm and still no further forward and can't do anything now till Monday..........
I am also a bit disappointed with rails and design of the fixing brackets, think they could be much better designed to avoid measuring (take some of guess work out of it) and the finish of the welding could be better. Any thoughts you guys

try jacking (gently) under base / foot of the bulkhead- then get a small diameter bar/ screwdriver and knock the bolt out.

jack under bulkhead and knock bolt with hammer..

what measuring are you doing-didn't need to with mine

Not really measured the passenger side put holes in bar then fitted, driver side I don't have another bar (from mill services) and am thinking of running bar up and laying flat along top of outrigger (I really don't want to have to move tank to get into it)
Finished work early today so may just have another go while listening to football)
