im after making a raised air intake for mi series 3 landrover , im thinking do away with the oil bath filter, use a k&n few bits of silicone hose and sum alloy tub, how do i connect it do i just go of the carb or is there another way ?

Yes you can do away with the oilbath, use the rubber hose that goes from the carb to the oilbath just get a pipe that fits inside it,I used household drainpipe for mine, you can cut it to length and buy the bends that just slot together. I used a 90 degree bend where it comes out of the wing and a 45 degree is perfect for the angle of the windscreen, plus a cone shaped K+N fits straight on! And you can get the clips to fasten it to the wing
here's a couple of pics to get an idea what I'm on about!

I know mines a V8 but if yours is a 4 cylinder only do the one, hope this helps jon

Personally I cant stand drain pipe being used for snorkels but each to their own!

For mine I ditched the oil bath, repalced with an aitbox from an early RRC (had to reverse the flow as I wanted the snorkel on the passenger side). Bought a metal mushroom snorkel top and snorkel elbow for about £15 for the pair from ebay and then welded some metal pipe brackets etc to suit.
