Yes definately, can I bring the dog?

Have to visit A at her scout camp and bring some bits back, then just some shopping e.g. the hacksaw I need, you know one of those handle thingies that holds one end of a plade leaving the other unsupported to get into tight spots.

I am certain the tank was fitted prior to the bodywork going on, when I originally sold Matt the 80" 10 years ago it was a bag of bits and if I recall didnt have a tank, and the seat box needed installing (As a pottential CCV motor this would have had to have been moved into a double skinned tank in the rear, complete with motor sport filler cap to prevent fual spillage in a roll over.

Was that your / the wife in a Maverik/terrano towing a horsebox past our house around 8:30ish Sat night?

Hmm looking at the last photo, maybe I should do the rear springs before the tank as the new one will obscure the front spring mount !!

Ye, bring the dog. And ye driving lessons for the wife in the horse box. Be up there about 11 today.

Well this weekend has given me some time with the 80"

First djdommyp borrowed an engine crane and we managed to finally rip out the engine an box from the old Disco.

Then it was off to supply Stutab with some much needed help to get his engine and box into the chassis of the RRC then put the body back on

Now I can roll the 80 out and see if I can get the spring bolts out.

As per manual support the chassis and axle seperately

Well three of the bolts will come out relatively easily, but of course the last is a pig. Its tight in the bush, gut iwth the aid of a hammer whilst turning is slowly pushing through.

Had to leave it as we are off out for the afternoon, plenty of PlusGas so it may move later, got it as far through the hanger as the end of the bolt, but not enough to get a drift in yet.

Well back again tonight for a couple of hours.

Still cannot get blooming O/S bolt out, so more penetrating fluid squirted in.

On the bright side the N/S proved nice an easy to pull off :)

Axle sitting nicely on the spring

Lots of Copper slip squidged onto all faces.

A bit of a scare when one of the U bolts appeared to be too big to go through the holes, but a gentle tap with a lump hammer encouraged it through.

As you can see and also from the first piccy the spring is only half as deep as the original so there is about an inch of thread below the nuts !!

One down three to go  !

Looking good Joules, is that where you were going when I flashed me lights and waved at you? And you drove past oblivious :D

Looks like you are having fun with that one. Try some heat on the bolt with a blow lamp, but put a drill notch in the end you are hitting first so you have something for the drift to sit on and not slip. Heat both ends, if you heat it enough you will hear the rust thats holding it start popping, at this point tw@ it wiv a big amma :p should come out then, worked on my towbar bolts, but I did have serious heat available  I got a blow if you want to borrow it but the gas might be getting low.

Well Picked up some bits from Spitfiremk1uk house. Andy did a few bits to his series mainly mounting f rear tub. When I got home I pressed in my noo front bushes took less than 5 mins to do both front arms and a few mins for the panhard rod. Then it was still warm, sunny and plenty of time before it was going dark I fitted my panhard rod. My old one was Fubar'd so worth it. Will have a go at rear or front arms tomorrow after work and then find the reason for the tiny bit of play in my steering- thinking ball joint, drop arm or swivel one side..... Todo...Lots.. but bring on the SUN!!

Yo Stu, where were you? Was the wife with me at that point? I do try look out for you when I come through HH around 6pm.

You drove past the end of bunkers, I had just rescued the wife from KL station and droped her off at her car which was at Apsley station, long story.

Do if I cook the bolt to get it out can I reuse it? Problem is they are hard to come by and expensive according to Dingocroft

If you drill a counter sink in one end you shouldn't bur the end so should be able to re use. If not have a mooch in my workshop again. Or get the size and thread and I will find some

I will try Robs blow torch tonight, problem is i got irt so far by twisting with a spanner using full body pull as its so blooming tight while whacking the end with a big hammer (nut on of course). now there is about 1 mm left extended. plus of course I have to lay under the chassis and #### the bugger while avoiding the prop shaft.

Might see if I can get Dom to help tonight.

BTW, just after we left Graces, dommy sent a text to show that the Disco chassis was finally gone ;)

How much did he get, I think the boss wants rid of the donor now but if I shift the chassis I think he will be happy.

I think he let his mate take it away for the weigh in. After all at the moment mixed scrap is work feck all.

Bought me'sen a new 4x4 hydraulic jack and 5' high lift yesterday :D, Might have a go at the spring bolt again tonight.

Grrr another 2 hours fighting on my own, All I need is a bod to turn the shackle pin while I #### it from the other side.

Well So far I have got the rest of the spring released:

Any one know if I need this shim on the top of the spring? The other side didnt seem to have one:
