I bought a lightweight shaped toy the other day, and it has one of these badboys in it.

we had it running briefly yesterday by dripping petrol into the air filters, and she runs lovely. The only problem is, I don't know what it is. I know its a ford cologne V6, but thats the extent of it. After trawling the interweb for several hours last night and this morning I've come to the uneducated conclusion its a 2.8 efi, but can anyone confirm or deny? cheers muchly :)

Don't ask me, I haven't a clue.........
If you give the lads a few more details it might help, year etc..:)

I have absolutely no idea as to the year or owt like, I'll have a look later see if I can find a number on the block. the lightweight is a 1979 SIII, but that'll tell you nowt about the engine. The previous owner didn't know or care much; he'd bought it, used it breifly and it's been sat rotting in his garden ever since the tax ran out in 2007.

that v6 was commonly fitted to the ford granada scorpio and some sierra sapphires i have no idea of its manufacture or capabilities but im sure if you got the haynes manual for either of those models of car that would give pretty much all the info you require

reet i was a little wrong your engine was fitted to the granada mk2 1984 was the year they first showed up and the precise manual you need for it is

ford granada 1977-1985 covering 1993cc - 2293cc - 2792cc manual number is haynes 481

my mate has this manual but wants £15 for it and hell post it if yer like :D:D:D

thanks for that! very helpful and much appreciated

've got a stack of haynes manuals kicking around, and my mate's got a shelf full, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we found that one buried in there somewhere, thanks for the offer though :)

early ford v6 was the Essex, later was the cologne v6 looking at it it isn't the cosworth quad cam unit so it should be a cologne 2.8i or possibly 2.9i as a guess
