Is it possible to remove the heater blower motor from a Series IIA without removing the wing? I have a Smith heater. I've unscrewed the motor from the housing but it's still got the squirrel cage attached and there's not enough room to get it out of the housing. Any suggestions on what to do?

plenty of room to unbolt the blower feet from footwell and lift entire assembly out...minus some knuckle skin :)

alternatively take the air intake grill off to release the squirrel cage circlip.
it won't fully withdraw with this method as it is wired to resistors in the snail shell

Not sure If the 2a is same as the 3. I removed mine last year, had to remove wheel arch splash guards to drop out of the bottom. Couldn't quite remove from above due to heater matrix but very close.

Should be no need to touch the wing on a SIIa to remove the heater blower ....Its fitted to the bulkhead in front of the gear shift ...

SIII you should be able to fiddle the snail out without removing the wing ....

Good luck on the mounting bolts coming out of the captive nuts without the whole shebang spinning though

Same here SMITHS wise, is it bolted to center bulkhead about 14 inch square? Behind gear stick, hours is the second I've ever heard of having one, I don't know if I've ever noticed one or a fitment
